Fostering Resilience Through Mindful Self-Compassion

Location: Virtual Program (Webinar)

and Certified NUSHU Group Facilitator
Owner of Life From the Summit

Compassion is our true nature. Yet we've been conditioned to believe that self-compassion will make us weak, passive, lazy, unmotivated, or more prone to self-pity. Science refutes all of those myths about self-compassion. Instead, we know that a self-compassion practice can support less rumination, stress, and anxiety, and allow for more strength, motivation, and well-being. Overall, self-compassion can open the door to more resilience.

This webinar will begin by focusing on mindfulness foundations, including what mindfulness is and is not, and the two components of mindfulness: awareness and compassion. We will then explore the benefits of a self-compassion practice, discuss the biggest challenges to self-compassion, and learn mindfulness practices for planting the seeds for self-compassion. We will end with a guided self-compassion meditation practice.

BIO

Michele L. Walter is a Certified Professional Coach through the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (IPEC), an Associate Certified Coach (ACC), Energy LeadershipTM Index Master Practitioner (IPEC), Certified Mindful Meditation Teacher, and Certified NUSHU Group Facilitator. As a 20-year litigator with the federal government, 3-time Ironman, runner, and avid mountaineer, Michele understands how legal professionals and athletes can get out of their ruts by learning how to thrive through mindful resilience.

Michele is an international speaker with Women in Leadership Africa on mindfulness and she has taught mindfulness courses to federal government employees, her own clients, and to 100+ staff in the Colorado Community College system. Michele combines her mindfulness and coaching skills to create a partnership where clients can uncover their root causes of stress, burnout, and overwhelm. This allows clients to tap into their own insights to see opportunities rather than problems, and let go of self-limiting beliefs and perceptions.

Michele’s clients have described her as having "an instinctive knack to sense exactly when you need a peaceful, pensive approach to process through what’s going on in your head” and yet “able to light that fire when it is imperative that you forget that head and focus on what’s really in your heart."

Michele lives in Colorado where she spends much of her time hiking in the gorgeous Rocky Mountains and traveling with her dog, Winnie. You can connect with Michele at www.lifefromthesummit.com or through email at Michele@lifefromthesummit.com
